چکيده
اکثر مطالعات پیشین، مبتنی بر یک رابطه مثبت بین بدهی و مدیریت درآمد، مطابق با تئوری بحران مالی است. با این حال، شواهد تجربی در مورد نظریه بحران مالی متفاوت است. جنبه دیگری از مطالعات اینگونه استدلال می کند که وام دهندگان به افرادی که بدهی کوتاه مدت دارند، به ویژه هنگامی که اعتبار شرکت در شک و تردید نیست، نقش نظارت بر مدیریت را ایفا می کنند. به منظور بررسی پیامدهای این استدلال ها بر انگیزه های مدیریت درآمد مدیران، ما نمونه ای از شرکت های ایالات متحده را در طول دوره سال های 2003-2006 مورد بررسی قرار دادیم و از این طریق دریافتیم که بدهی کوتاه مدت به گونه مثبتی با مدیریت درآمد مبتنی بر اقلام تعهدی (اندازه گیری شده توسط اقلام تعهدی اختیاری)، مطابق با تئوری بحران مالی در ارتباط است. ما همچنین دریافتیم که این رابطه برای شرکت هایی که از اعتبار بالاتری برخوردار هستند به طور قابل توجهی ضعیف تر بوده (به عنوان مثال رتبه بندی شرکت های سرمایه گذاری)، و با مزایای نظارت و اهمیت دلایل بحران مالی برای مدیریت درآمد نیز سازگار است.
